On this occasion, the two officials welcomed the excellent ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America and the level of bilateral military cooperation. They also reiterated their mutual commitment to deepening the Moroccan-American partnership, put into practice by the defense cooperation roadmap 2020-2030, signed in Rabat on October 2, 2020. They reiterated the interest in bolstering military cooperation in new topics and encouraging the emergence of the Defense industry in Morocco, according to a statement from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR).
During the same day, and on the High Instructions of His Majesty the King, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the South Zone, held a meeting, at the General Staff of the FAR, with General Dagvin Anderson, commander of USAFRICOM, the same source added.
The meeting provided an opportunity to delve into the multiple areas of bilateral military cooperation in a spirit of strengthened partnership, mainly the modernizing and strengthening of the FAR’s readiness and capabilities, as well as joint training. In this regard, the joint organization of the annual “African Lion” exercise remains the best example of the interoperability of the two countries’ forces.
The Inspector General of the FAR and the Commander of USAFRICOM also discussed the regional situation and explored ways to strengthen security and stability in the region.
The General, commander of the U.S. Africa Command (USAFRICOM), also emphasized the professionalism of the Royal Armed Forces, which play a leading role in strengthening cooperation with their African counterparts and promoting the values of peace and security.
The “solid and fruitful” bilateral military ties between the FAR and the U.S. Armed Forces draw their essence from the long-standing ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America. This exemplary military cooperation rests on the sharing of expertise and experiences, by developing the defense industry, training, and acquiring military equipment and harmonizing military strategies, in order to efficiently face the complex scalable military threats.
