The Republican Party member underlined in an interview with the Moroccan news agency (MAP) on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Glorious Green March that the leadership and initiatives of HM the King are not limited to the regional and continental levels but are also recognized and respected worldwide.
“His Majesty the King is one of the great reformers in the world, and we see, once again today, that the Sovereign listens, acts and takes very proactive measures,” he added.
Morocco has become, under the leadership of HM the King, “a major player” in the Arab region, particularly regarding its role in advancing peace in the Middle East, the U.S. congressman noted.
The Florida’s 26th congressional district representative commended the efforts and initiatives of HM the King aimed at strengthening, at all levels, the historical and secular relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America, with a view to strengthen peace, stability, and prosperity of the two friendly nations and peoples, expressing confidence that these ties will be further consolidated in the future.
Commenting on the Moroccan Sahara issue, Mr. Diaz-Balart recalled the clear support of the United States and US President Donald Trump for Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara and for the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative as a definitive solution to this artificial dispute.
“It’s very clear that it’s the only serious, credible, and realistic solution is precisely the sovereignty of Morocco over the Sahara,” he stressed.
The congressman also highlighted the huge investment opportunities that Morocco and the Sahara region present to the United States and U.S. companies thanks to the Kingdom’s massive development and investment efforts aimed at promoting and modernizing its Southern Provinces.
In this regard, he underscored the importance of achieving a definitive solution to the Moroccan Sahara issue within the framework of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom, adding that this would guarantee greater prosperity for Morocco and the entire region.
