Rabat: Partnership Agreement Signed Between the Competition Council and the High Commission for Planning (HCP)

This partnership is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen economic transparency, enhance understanding of market dynamics, and support evidence-based public decision-making grounded in reliable data and objective analysis.

In a statement to the press, Ahmed Rahhou, President of the Competition Council, said the cooperation will help improve the efficiency of Morocco’s national market and economy by ensuring greater transparency and providing investors with reliable data on price trends, competition, and purchasing power.

“This partnership will enable the Council to refine its monitoring of economic sectors and obtain precise indicators to detect possible abusive price increases or anti-competitive practices,” Rahhou added.

For his part, Chakib Benmoussa, High Commissioner for Planning, emphasized that the agreement reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to improve the circulation of statistical and analytical information.

“This partnership covers the exchange of data from HCP surveys and studies, as well as information held by the Council, the development of joint analyses, and the training and skills enhancement of staff from both institutions,” Benmoussa explained.

Through this agreement, the Competition Council and the HCP aim to combine their respective expertise: the Council through its role in assessing market practices and detecting anti-competitive behavior, and the HCP through the production and dissemination of official statistical and economic data. This synergy seeks to strengthen market regulation and support the competitiveness of the national economy.

The cooperation will focus on the structured and secure exchange of data related to consumer and production prices, the conduct of joint studies on topics of mutual interest, cross-training programs for staff development, and the organization of scientific and technical events.

By signing this agreement, the Competition Council and the HCP reaffirm their shared commitment to reinforcing institutional collaboration in the service of a more competitive, transparent, and equitable Moroccan economy grounded in good governance principles.
