Speaking at a press conference, Patrice Motsepe stated that revenues generated from ticket sales during the final phase reached nearly 55 million dollars, an all-time high. By comparison, the previous edition hosted by Côte d’Ivoire did not exceed 11 million dollars, highlighting the scale of the leap achieved during the Moroccan edition.
This exceptional performance is largely attributed to the massive turnout of supporters in stadiums across the Kingdom, as well as the outstanding quality of the organisation, the modernity of the sports infrastructure and the overall experience offered to spectators. These factors significantly boosted the commercial and popular appeal of AFCON 2025.
For CAF, these figures confirm the growing stature of the Africa Cup of Nations as a major sporting product capable of generating substantial economic returns. They also cement Morocco’s position as a leading destination for hosting major football events, fully meeting the most demanding international standards.
Through this resounding success, AFCON Morocco 2025 marks a turning point in the history of African football, both on the sporting and financial fronts, while opening new prospects for the development and promotion of the continental game.
