According to a statement from the Tanger Med Port Authority, this growth is mainly due to the commissioning of the latest extension of the TC4 terminal, operated by APM Terminals.
As for international freight truck traffic, 535,203 trucks were processed in 2025, recording an increase of 3.6 percent compared to the previous year. This growth is essentially driven by the rise in exports of industrial products (+4.8 percent) and agri-food products (+4.3 percent), confirming the strategic role of the port in supporting national exports.
Passenger traffic, for its part, reached 3,220,422 travelers and 895,341 vehicles in 2025, up respectively 5.7 percent and 5 percent compared to 2024.
Regarding Operation “Marhaba”, the statement notes that it was carried out under optimal conditions thanks to the operational measures put in place, notably the generalization of the confirmed ticket system starting in 2025, which allowed better organization of flows based on the actual capacity of the fleet and smoother transit.
Solid bulk traffic recorded a decline of 11 percent, reaching 522,493 tonnes in 2025, mainly due to variations in cereal imports compared to the previous year.
Conversely, liquid bulk traffic continued its positive momentum, totaling 8,641,481 tonnes, representing an annual increase of 13 percent.
In addition, the two automotive terminals of the port complex handled 526,862 vehicles in 2025, down 12 percent compared to 2024. This volume includes 327,569 vehicles destined for export produced by Renault’s Melloussa plant and the SOMACA plant in Casablanca, 126,874 export vehicles from the Stellantis plant in Kenitra, as well as 39,751 transshipped vehicles.
According to the statement, this decline is attributed to production adjustments in line with demand, as well as a restructuring of flows on international automotive markets.
The overall volume of goods handled, across all activities combined, reached 161 million tonnes in 2025, an increase of 13.3 percent compared to 2024.
In terms of maritime navigation, 16,686 vessels called at the Tanger Med port complex in 2025, representing a decrease of 4.5 percent compared to the previous year. This decline is mainly explained by developments in the RoPax segment, marked by the replacement of certain units with larger-capacity vessels carrying more passengers and trucks.
At the same time, the port welcomed 1,319 mega-ships exceeding 290 meters in length, up 8.4 percent year-on-year, thanks to improved berthing procedures aimed at enhancing operational fluidity and the quality of services offered to shipping lines.
The 2025 results reflect the commitment of all stakeholders within the port ecosystem, the efficiency of operational performance and the relevance of the infrastructure. They also confirm the leadership of the Tanger Med port complex on the Mediterranean and African stages, in service of national and international logistics chains.
