“This initiative not only supported the efforts deployed by MINUSCA, but also contributed to mobilizing funds for the Central African Republic’s National Development Plan (2024-2028),” said the Deputy Permanent Representative of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Jocelyne Lukundula, in a statement delivered on behalf of the three African countries during a UN Security Council briefing on the situation in the Central African Republic.
She stressed that the three African members of the Security Council encourage rigorous follow-up on the outcomes of this roundtable in order to ensure that the commitments translate into concrete support for the peacebuilding priorities defined by the Central African government.
During the meeting, Morocco’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Omar Hilale, at the invitation of the United Kingdom’s presidency of the Security Council for the month of February, briefed the UN body in his capacity as Chair of the Central African Republic Configuration of the Peacebuilding Commission on the progress made in peacebuilding efforts in the country.
In this context, the Deputy Permanent Representative of the Democratic Republic of Congo, speaking on behalf of the African members of the Council, also praised Ambassador Hilale’s continued support for peacebuilding efforts in the Central African Republic.
The meeting was also attended by the Permanent Representative of the Central African Republic to the United Nations, Ambassador Marius Nzessioué, who expressed his country’s gratitude to the Kingdom of Morocco, through Omar Hilale, Chair of the Peacebuilding Commission and Chair of the Central African Republic Configuration within the Commission, describing him as an “tireless advocate of Central African resilience.”
