In a statement, the organization led by Patrice Motsepe indicated that its president has decided to increase by two million dollars the prize awarded to the club crowned in the Champions League. A similar increase has also been granted to the winner of the Confederation Cup.
As a result, the future African champion of the 2025–2026 edition will now receive 6 million dollars, representing a 50 percent increase compared to the previous prize amount. Meanwhile, the winner of the Confederation Cup will receive 4 million dollars, which corresponds to a doubling of the previous reward.
CAF noted that these increases are part of the financial development policy implemented since Motsepe assumed leadership of the organization. Over five years, the Champions League winner’s prize has risen from 2.5 million to 6 million dollars, an increase of 140 percent. During the same period, the Confederation Cup prize has grown from 1.25 million to 4 million dollars, representing a 220 percent rise.
Thanks to these new measures, the total amount of prize money and solidarity mechanisms distributed to African clubs now exceeds 42 million dollars per season, representing an increase of 114 percent over five years.
For reference, the two-legged finals of the 2025–2026 CAF Champions League are scheduled for May 15 and May 24, while the Confederation Cup finals will take place on May 9 and May 16.
