Upon Very High Royal Instructions, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates Mr. Nasser Bourita is representing His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the African Union Extraordinary Summit on the elimination of AIDS and improving maternal health, addessing endemic communicable and non-communicable diseases and strengthening health systems by 2030, held Wednesday in Accra.

On this occasion, Mr. Bourita highlighted the Royal Vision of African health sovereignty based on solidarity, social justice, and the sharing of expertise.

He emphasized, in particular, that Morocco, under the leadership of HM the King, has made health a strategic pillar of its continental cooperation, in line with the Summit’s three main priorities: local pharmaceutical manufacturing, innovative funding, and political governance.

Focused on ending AIDS by 2030 and combating preventable maternal deaths, communicable and non-communicable diseases endemic to the continent, as well as boosting health systems by 2030, this Summit is pursuant to the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government on evolving health priorities of Africa.

The Summit reviewed an AU roadmap to 2030 and beyond to sustain HIV/AIDS response, strengthen resilient health systems, and enhance health security across the continent.

The Moroccan delegation, led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, is composed of representatives from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
