Al Haouz: Royal Armed Forces Deploy a Field Military Hospital in Ouirgane to Mitigate the Impact of Severe Weather

The Royal Armed Forces (FAR) have deployed a field military hospital in the commune of Ouirgane, in the province of Al Haouz, as part of ongoing efforts to mitigate the effects of severe weather affecting the province, particularly an intense cold wave accompanied by rainfall and snowfall.

This local healthcare facility was deployed in implementation of the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, calling for the mobilization of all human resources and logistical means to support populations affected by difficult weather conditions and to ensure their access to healthcare under the best possible conditions.

The hospital includes several medical and surgical specialties and benefits from the mobilization of significant human resources, including medical, paramedical and technical teams, in addition to personnel from the FAR social services and a logistics unit belonging to the 4th Logistics Battalion of the Marrakech Garrison.

It provides integrated medical services in the specialties of anesthesiology and intensive care, ophthalmology, ear, nose and throat medicine, gynecology and obstetrics, pediatrics, internal medicine, orthopedic and trauma surgery, general surgery, dental medicine, as well as operational emergency medicine available 24 hours a day.

The facility is also equipped with a medical analysis laboratory, a radiology unit, a pharmacy, an intensive care unit, an operating room, two hospitalization wards reserved for men and women, and a surgical department ensuring patient care before, during and after surgical procedures.

For complex cases, telemedicine is used to provide real-time medical consultations, in coordination with military hospitals, particularly in Marrakech, and with the Health and Social Protection Delegation for the evacuation of critical cases requiring specialized intervention to dedicated hospital centers.

The hospital also receives patients from remote or hard-to-reach areas. For this purpose, a helicopter landing area has been set up near the facility and is used by Royal Gendarmerie helicopters to transport urgent cases.

The field military hospital applies a rigorous patient care protocol, from reception and orientation toward the appropriate medical specialty, to medical and social support, consultations, the provision of medications, and the performance of surgical interventions when necessary.

In statements to MAP, several beneficiaries expressed their great satisfaction with the quality of the medical services provided and the speed of care, praising the availability of different specialties and medications close to their places of residence.

Ibrahim, from the commune of Asni, said he benefited from a thorough ophthalmological examination, noting that he will undergo surgery as part of the medical follow-up provided by the hospital.

For her part, Amina, a beneficiary from the commune of Ouirgane, stated that she received a medical examination related to stomach and intestinal issues, along with the necessary medication, expressing her gratitude to the medical and nursing teams for the quality of reception and support.

This initiative is part of a series of field interventions carried out by the Royal Armed Forces, in coordination with local authorities and the relevant services, to provide health and humanitarian support to populations affected by severe weather, illustrating the social and humanitarian role assumed by this national institution.
