Tourism assets of the Casablanca-Settat region showcased in Miami
The tourism potential of the Casablanca-Settat region was showcased on Wednesday in Miami during a meeting between a Moroccan delegation and officials from the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) in Florida.

Led by the President of the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council, the delegation included representatives from the Regional Tourism Directorate and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services (CCIS-CS). They presented a detailed overview highlighting the diversity of Casablanca-Settat’s tourism offer, supported by data and key figures.
Held in the presence of Morocco’s Consul General in Miami, Chafika El Habti, the meeting focused on fostering synergy between the region’s tourism offer and the expectations of key players in the United States, particularly in Miami-Dade County.
The delegation also emphasized the dynamism of Casablanca-Settat, Morocco’s leading economic region, which contributes 32 percent of the national GDP, and its role as an international gateway for visitors to the Kingdom.
Speaking on the occasion, the President of the Regional Council, Abdellatif Maâzouz, stated that Casablanca-Settat is transforming into a must-visit tourist destination, aiming to offer a complete experience that combines business, culture, and leisure, positioning the region as a genuine tourism hub.
He recalled that the launch in 2019 of the direct Casablanca-Miami flight by Royal Air Maroc gave a major boost to the promotion of Morocco as a destination in Miami, helping connect tourism stakeholders from both countries. He expressed hope that this positive dynamic would continue to grow stronger.
For her part, the Regional Director of Tourism in Casablanca-Settat, Fatima Bouabd, outlined the main elements of the 2023-2026 tourism roadmap, backed by a budget of 6.1 billion dirhams. She noted that Morocco aims to attract 26 million tourists by 2030, with a significant portion expected to stay in the Casablanca-Settat region.
After reviewing various projects and initiatives to enhance and modernize the region’s tourism offer, Ms. Bouabd stressed that Casablanca-Settat, which is set to host matches during the 2030 World Cup, has a clear ambition to become a true tourism hub capable of attracting business travelers, culture and sports enthusiasts, and visitors seeking authentic experiences.
David Whitaker, President and CEO of the Miami Tourism Bureau, commended the efforts made by the Casablanca-Settat region to improve its tourism offer and modernize its infrastructure.
He also expressed the GMCVB’s willingness to exchange experiences and best practices with Moroccan tourism officials and to cooperate in areas of mutual interest.
The meeting also served as an opportunity to discuss, with GMCVB officials, the challenges and prospects of the travel market in Miami, especially from economic and organizational perspectives.
Additionally, the Moroccan delegation met with representatives of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce (GMCC) and the Latin Chamber of Commerce of the United States (Camacol), the largest Hispanic business organization in Florida.
During this meeting, both sides explored ways to establish strong cooperation, particularly in promoting “Made in Morocco” products in the United States and strengthening the presence of companies affiliated with GMCC and Camacol in Morocco.
