Düsseldorf - German Bundestag (Federal Parliament) member Helge Lindh praised, on Saturday in Düsseldorf, Morocco's efforts in socio-economic development and global openness, as well as the progress made under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, describing the Kingdom as "an example of modernity and tolerance."

Speaking at a conference on Morocco’s geopolitical initiatives in development, peace, and international cooperation, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King, the Social Democratic Party MP called for further strengthening of relations between Germany and Morocco, “based on equality, understanding, and mutual respect.”
Lindh also highlighted the deep historical ties between the two countries, emphasizing the crucial role played by Moroccan soldiers during World War II and the essential contribution of early Moroccan immigrants to Germany’s post-war economic and social reconstruction.
He underlined the importance of acknowledging this shared history, especially in cities such as Wuppertal, Düsseldorf, and Frankfurt, where the Moroccan presence is deeply rooted.
