Radiological and Nuclear Threats: Strategic Cooperation Strengthened Between Washington and Rabat
American expertise in combating radiological and nuclear threats converged with Moroccan leadership as part of a strategic cooperation aimed at strengthening global security. From February 3 to 5, Rabat hosted the second plenary meeting of the Global Forum for the Prevention of Radiological and Nuclear Terrorism, a high-level international gathering dedicated to nuclear safety and security issues.

The meeting brought together experts and officials from several countries, who exchanged views on best practices in early threat detection, response capabilities, nuclear forensics, as well as crisis management and simulation. The discussions provided an opportunity to share concrete experiences and to strengthen coordination mechanisms in the face of complex transnational risks.
Holding this forum in Rabat highlights Morocco’s growing role as a committed and credible actor in international efforts to prevent and combat terrorism in all its forms. It also reflects the strength of the Moroccan-American partnership, built on trust, the exchange of expertise and a shared vision for a safer world.
Through this close cooperation, the United States and Morocco reaffirm their commitment to reinforcing global security frameworks, relying on training, innovation and international coordination to address the challenges posed by radiological and nuclear threats.
