Justice Ministry Launches Digital Platform to Track Convicted Fugitives and Wanted Individuals
As part of efforts to modernize the judicial system, the Ministry of Justice has launched a new digital portal dedicated to procedures involving trials in absentia. The initiative aims to accelerate the enforcement of sentences and strengthen transparency within the criminal justice system.
By introducing the “Trial in Absentia Procedure Platform,” the institution seeks to address delays caused by individuals who fail to respond to judicial summons. The system makes essential information about prosecuted individuals who did not attend their trials publicly accessible, making their identification easier.
Transparency and Access to Judicial Data
The new platform provides detailed access to case files. Citizens and legal professionals can now consult several key pieces of information in just a few clicks, including:
• The full identity of the prosecuted individual (name, parentage, national ID number)
• The charges and case reference number
• The issuing court and the last known address
Beyond its technical aspect, the ministry has accompanied the launch with a firm call: individuals whose names appear on the portal are urged to present themselves immediately to the authorities to regularize their situation.
The ministry has also called for citizen cooperation, inviting anyone with information about the whereabouts of the individuals concerned to inform judicial or security services, placing collaboration at the heart of the rule of law.
This measure forms part of the implementation of the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure. According to the ministry, the objective is clear: to restore citizens’ trust by ensuring that the law is enforced while using digital solutions to eliminate the opacity surrounding certain pending cases.
