Official Show Jumping Competition at the Royal Cavalry School: Ghali Boukaa wins HM King Mohammed VI Grand Prix
Rider Ghali Boukaa, on his horse A Kyss, claimed victory on Sunday in the Grand Prix of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the highlight of the official show jumping competition (CSO3*) hosted by the Royal Cavalry School in Temara. The three-day event ran from September 5 to 7.
Boukaa distinguished himself in the jump-off as the only rider to complete the course without a fault, finishing in 47.81 seconds. With this performance, he retained his title and secured his third triumph with the same mount, after wins in 2022 and 2024.
He finished ahead of Ali Al Ahrach, riding IKE 1348, who posted a time of 58.53 seconds with 8 penalty points, and Hicham Er-Radi on Grand Cru de Conques, who completed the course in 59.19 seconds with 13 penalty points.
The top five was rounded out by Abdelkebir Ouaddar, who took fourth place on Festival d’Argouges with 64.43 seconds and 14 penalty points. Ouaddar also secured fifth place on Baccarat Meniljean after his first-round performance (74.33 seconds, 4 penalty points).
All four riders had to navigate a tightly contested first round without penalty in order to qualify for the jump-off.
At the end of the prestigious competition, the president of the Royal Moroccan Equestrian Federation (FRMSE), Moulay Abdallah Alaoui, presented the Grand Prix trophy of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the winner. The top five riders were also honored.
Speaking to the press, Ghali Boukaa expressed his delight at the result, which comes just before the Morocco Royal Tour. “We were four in the jump-off. I was lucky to have a very, very fast, agile and disciplined mare who has now won her third Grand Prix here in Temara. I can only be happy and proud,” he said.
“We had a fantastic Grand Prix with all the top riders competing, right on the eve of the Morocco Royal Tour. Winning a three-star Grand Prix before such an important event is always a great feeling,” he added.
“I have several horses in top form right now. I hope they perform just as well in Tetouan in 15 days, during the first stage of the Morocco Royal Tour,” Boukaa noted.
In addition to the HM King Mohammed VI Grand Prix, the program also featured several other events, including competitions for senior amateurs as well as U13, U18, and U21 categories.
