Restructuring & Development of Casablanca Port Complex to Boost Morocco’s International Standing

Casablanca - The project to restructure and develop the Casablanca port complex will boost Morocco's international standing, Minister of Equipment and Water Nizar Baraka said.

This project is based on three pillars: the first, related to the sea fishing port, is intended mainly for coastal and artisanal fishing, Baraka told the press on the occasion of the inauguration and visit by His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s inauguration and visit Thursday to several major projects, part of the restructuring and development of the Casablanca Port Complex.

The port will help various fishing units to contribute to strengthening this momentum and improving working conditions of professionals in the sector, he said.

The second pillar, he continued, concerns the restructuring and development of the shipbuilding and repair sector in Morocco, which is part of the Royal Vision aimed at reinforcing the Moroccan fleet and enshrining national sovereignty in this area.

Baraka added that the third pillar concerns the cruise terminal, with an annual capacity of 450,000 passengers, with a view to increasing the number of cruise passengers.
