Strengthened Strategic Partnership: ZPMC, OCP, JESA and Marsa Maroc Open a New Chapter of Industrial and Logistics Cooperation
From September 17 to 18, the president of the Chinese giant Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC), You Ruikai, carried out an economic mission to Morocco, dedicated to expanding cooperation with OCP, its engineering subsidiary JESA, as well as with the public port group Marsa Maroc. These high-level meetings highlighted new synergies in the mining, energy, port, and logistics sectors.

OCP Vice-President Abdelmajid Haimoud and JESA Executive Director Hicham Mayoun welcomed the progress already made, while reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening cooperation around ecological transition, digitalization, and technological innovation.
In return, You Ruikai stressed the strategic importance that ZPMC attaches to its Moroccan partnerships, assuring that his group will mobilize its engineering and research expertise to ensure rigorous project execution and strengthen collaboration prospects.
For Marsa Maroc, its Chairman and CEO, Tarik El Arouss, highlighted the positive results of previous collaborations and expressed his wish to intensify exchanges, particularly in equipment maintenance, emissions reduction, and environmental sustainability.
In parallel with these discussions, You Ruikai visited the construction site of the bulk handling system at the new port of Safi. The contract, signed in November 2024, provides for the installation of ship loaders and unloaders, conveyors, digital and fire safety systems, as well as devices to combat air pollution. The project is scheduled to be completed within 30 months.
The Chinese delegation also visited the TMII container terminal at Tangier-Med, operated by Maersk, ranked the leading container port in Africa and among the top twenty worldwide, further confirming Morocco’s position as a strategic logistics hub linking Africa, Europe, and Asia.
