Consulate of the Kingdom of Morocco in Orly: A Meeting to Strengthen Franco-Moroccan Dialogue and Cooperation

A meeting focused on dialogue and cooperation was recently held at the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Orly, bringing together several stakeholders committed to strengthening relations between France and Morocco.

Initiated by Mouna Bennani, president of the ASLI association, the exchange falls in line with the dynamic promoted by the association since its creation: building lasting bridges between local authorities, diplomatic institutions and the associative sector.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to officially welcome Brahim Rizqi, the new Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Orly. Participants praised his assumption of office and his vision of proximity-based diplomacy, founded on listening, presence in the field and constant dialogue with local and community actors. An approach that opens promising prospects for strengthening cooperation between the two shores of the Mediterranean.

Among the personalities present was Christian Schoettl, mayor of the commune of Janvry for more than thirty years. A recognized figure in rural France, he stands out for his commitment to dynamism and innovation in rural territories. President of the French Federation for the Development of Camelids in France and Europe and decorated in particular with the Legion of Honour, the Order of Arts and Letters and the Order of Agricultural Merit, Christian Schoettl has maintained a strong and personal relationship with Morocco for many years.

Discussions focused on several avenues of cooperation, particularly in the agricultural sector, with special interest in developing camelid-related industries, a field at the crossroads of tradition and innovation. Participants also discussed several joint initiatives and projects currently being prepared for 2026.

Through this meeting, all stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties between French and Moroccan territories and to continuing the development of concrete initiatives promoting economic, cultural and institutional exchanges between the two countries.

For Christian Schoettl, this relationship goes far beyond the institutional framework. He describes his attachment to Morocco as a true fraternity, nurtured by more than fifty years of personal ties with the Kingdom.

Recalling his memories and numerous stays in different regions of Morocco, from the Ourika Valley to Dakhla, passing through Laâyoune and Esmara, he highlighted the country’s human and cultural richness as well as the remarkable progress achieved in recent decades.

This meeting at the Consulate of the Kingdom of Morocco in Orly thus illustrates the vitality of Franco-Moroccan dialogue and the shared determination to consolidate lasting partnerships based on trust, cooperation and friendship between peoples.
