Signing of three agreements for the development of logistics and commercial infrastructure in the Dakhla Oued Eddahab region

Three agreements aimed at developing logistics and commercial infrastructure in the Dakhla Oued Eddahab region were signed this Saturday in Dakhla, in the presence of the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, and the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour.

These agreements are part of the implementation of the national strategy for the development of logistics competitiveness, as well as the national program for logistics zones, which aims to create 750 hectares of logistics zones by 2028.

The first agreement concerns the creation of an economic and logistics activity zone in El Argoub, on an area of 20 hectares, with a budget of around 134 million dirhams. This project aims to establish a modern and integrated logistics platform, to structure economic activities, to reduce transport and storage costs, and to create job opportunities for the local population.

The second agreement concerns the development of the first phase of the Guerguerat road center, built on an area of two hectares in the commune of Bir Gandouz, in the province of Aousserd. This first phase aims to strengthen road safety, organize traffic, and provide equipped spaces for drivers and professionals, thus contributing to enhancing the competitiveness of the region as the main commercial corridor between Morocco and Africa.

The third agreement concerns the creation of a trade and distribution zone in Guerguerat, as part of the program contract related to the integrated development of the Dakhla Oued Eddahab region. This project aims to support foreign trade through modern infrastructure and spaces dedicated to commercial exchanges, while attracting investment, creating jobs and strengthening the economic attractiveness of the region. The agreement also enables the region to benefit from the expertise of the Moroccan Agency for Logistics Development for the implementation of the public private partnership.

In his speech, Mr. Kayouh stressed that these agreements lie at the heart of the royal vision that has made Dakhla a development hub and a major African economic center. He added that they fully align with the dynamic launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI for the development of the Atlantic coastline and the strengthening of Morocco’s position as a strategic bridge between Europe and its African extension.

The minister stated that these projects in Dakhla, El Argoub and Guerguerat form a complete logistics system, particularly in connection with the major projects undertaken in the region, foremost among them the Atlantic Port of Dakhla, which is reshaping the map of regional development and consolidating its role as a gateway to Africa.

For his part, Mr. Mezzour highlighted the strong economic momentum currently experienced by the southern provinces thanks to the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the structuring projects carried out under the new development model for the southern provinces launched in 2015.

He stated that “the results of this vision are materializing today through major projects that grant the region a strategic position and broad prospects”, noting that the three agreements constitute an integrated mechanism designed to strengthen the logistics and commercial structure of the region.

He affirmed that these agreements are part of an ongoing development process, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King, aimed at establishing a modern logistics and commercial platform, organizing transport flows, facilitating supply chains and consolidating the region as a commercial and logistics hub linking Africa to the rest of the world.

Present at the signing ceremony were

-the wali of the Dakhla Oued Eddahab region and governor of the province of Oued Eddahab, Ali Khalil,

-the governor of the province of Aousserd, Mohamed Rachdi,
