Hassan II Foundation for Moroccans Living Abroad Hosts “Sanctuary Kingdom” Exhibition by Moroccan-American Artist Rachid Bouhamidi
The Hassan II Foundation for Moroccans Living Abroad is organizing the exhibition “Sanctuary Kingdom” by Moroccan-American artist Rachid Bouhamidi, from October 2 to November 3, 2025, at the Espace Rivages. The opening will take place on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at the Foundation’s headquarters.

Rachid Bouhamidi was born in Palm Springs, United States, in 1981 to a French mother and a Moroccan father. He grew up in Southern California and currently lives and works in Los Angeles. He holds a Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Master’s in Painting from Boston University. His artistic journey has led him to exhibit in the United States, Europe, and Morocco.
Bouhamidi’s work reflects a constant search for balance and purity between form and color. His creations, rich in chromatic intensity, are a captivating visual experience. Through the use of contrasting tones to capture light, his vibrant works convey powerful messages, notably on the status of women. Despite living abroad and only visiting Morocco for the first time as an adult, his attachment to the country remains strong.
“This exhibition represents the fulfillment of my desire, both as an individual and as an artist, to reconnect with my father’s homeland. It is an affirmation of my belonging to Morocco,” Bouhamidi expressed.
