CAN 2025: South Africa hails Morocco as a continental benchmark in event organization
The organization of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco continues to earn strong international recognition. The latest endorsement comes from South Africa’s Minister of Sports, Culture, and Arts, Gayton McKenzie, who publicly congratulated the Kingdom for the excellence of its management and hospitality at this major African football event.

In an official correspondence addressed to the Moroccan Minister of Education and Sports, Saad Brada, following South Africa’s participation in the tournament, Minister McKenzie emphasized that Morocco is currently hosting the CAN to standards worthy of the world’s top sporting events.
According to Gayton McKenzie, the overall quality of organization, the professionalism of the structures overseeing the competition, and the positive atmosphere in the various host cities have projected a modern, structured, and ambitious image of Africa. In his view, this achievement sets a new benchmark for future continental competitions.
The South African minister also expressed particular admiration for the level of infrastructure provided to the participating teams. The accommodation conditions, considered exemplary for combining comfort, safety, and tranquility, offered players an optimal environment for preparation and performance. In addition, the perfectly managed transport logistics facilitated movement between stadiums, training centers, and residences, reflecting careful planning and substantial investment in sports infrastructure.
Beyond the sporting aspect, Gayton McKenzie believes that this edition of the CAN goes beyond a mere African competition. For him, it is a concrete demonstration of Moroccan expertise and tangible proof of the Kingdom’s capacity to co-host football events of global scale, including the 2030 World Cup.
This recognition from Southern Africa reinforces the momentum Morocco has built, establishing itself progressively as a major hub for continental sport, combining strategic vision, organizational excellence, and international influence.
