Laâyoune: General Union of Arab Journalists Reaffirms Support for Morocco’s Territorial Integrity

The General Union of Arab Journalists reaffirmed on Sunday in Laâyoune its firm and longstanding position in support of the Kingdom of Morocco’s territorial integrity.

In the “Laâyoune Declaration,” issued at the end of the ordinary meeting of its General Secretariat, the Union emphasized that by holding its session in the city of Laâyoune, it reiterates its consistent stance regarding the artificial dispute over the Moroccan Sahara and affirms the inalienable right of the Moroccan people to their national unity.

The “Laâyoune Declaration” further considers that the autonomy plan presented by Morocco represents the only framework capable of ensuring a just and definitive settlement of this artificial conflict, while commending the sustained development efforts taking place in the Kingdom’s southern provinces.

The Union also reaffirmed its principled positions on the just causes of the Arab nation, foremost among them the Palestinian cause.

Additionally, the Union called for the improvement of legislation related to the press and publishing across Arab countries, as well as the strengthening of professional skills through continuous training and mastery of tools needed to address the challenges posed by the deep technological transformations affecting the media and communication sectors.
