FRMF and LNFP Sign Charter for a More Ethical Football: A New Pact to Redefine Professionalism in Moroccan Football
Moroccan football is taking a new direction. On Thursday, September 11, the headquarters of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) in Rabat hosted a solemn ceremony marking the signing of a Charter of Commitment, Ethics, and Governance for professional clubs. The landmark event brought together Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the FRMF, Abdeslam Belkchour, President of the National Professional Football League (LNFP), as well as all club and sports company presidents.
Abdeslam Belkchour described the occasion as “historic,” announcing the dawn of a new era in national football, built on transparency, discipline, and accountability. According to him, the charter puts an end to years of institutional gaps and approximate management, with the ambition of strengthening the image of national competitions to make them more competitive and attractive for investors.
For his part, Fouzi Lekjaa recalled that this initiative is part of the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who sees sport as both a driver of development and a strategic tool for enhancing Morocco’s international standing. The FRMF president emphasized the need for clubs to raise their standards of management and performance in order to keep pace with the progress already achieved, particularly in infrastructure and national teams.
Club presidents unanimously hailed the charter as a decisive step in the evolution of Moroccan football. Through this pact, the Federation and the LNFP are establishing a clear and shared framework that lays the foundations for a renewed professionalism, where ethics, governance, and competitiveness are the guiding principles.
