Marrakech Hosts the 14th World Consular Congress: An International Diplomatic Gathering

Morocco’s tourist capital is preparing to shine once again on the international stage. From October 29 to November 1, 2025, Marrakech will host the 14th World Consular Congress, a global event themed around dialogue, cooperation, and diplomatic innovation.

Jointly organized by the World Federation of Consuls (FICAC) and the Union of Honorary Consuls in Morocco (UCHM), this congress will bring together more than 120 ambassadors and consuls from all corners of the world. This is the first time the Kingdom of Morocco has been entrusted with organizing such a meeting, thereby confirming its stature as a platform for peace, proactive diplomacy, and intercultural dialogue.

Marrakech, Global Crossroads for Parallel Diplomacy

For four days, the Ochre City will become the nerve center of modern consular diplomacy, where pressing current topics will be debated, including:

• Proximity diplomacy and intercultural dialogue,

• Youth and innovation,

• Culture and humanitarian action,

• Public health, climate, and cybersecurity.

The official opening of the congress will be marked by speeches from Nikolaos K. Margaropoulos, President of FICAC, and Atman Haloui, President of the UCHM. These addresses will be followed by an exceptional speech from Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, former President of the Republic of Croatia, who is the edition’s guest of honor.

Two Major Panels to Redefine the Diplomacy of Tomorrow

The day of October 30 will be marked by two main thematic sessions:

• “Bridging Nations in Modern Times,” which will explore new levers for bringing peoples closer through consular diplomacy, youth, culture, and international solidarity;

• “Navigating Modern Diplomacy,” dedicated to the contemporary challenges of world diplomacy: public health, climate, cybersecurity, citizen protection, and technological innovations.

The congress will also host the FICAC General Assembly, during which the election of the new Board of Directors will take place. The event will conclude with a prestigious gala dinner, bringing together Moroccan personalities, diplomatic representatives, and members of the international consular corps.

Recognition of Morocco’s Diplomatic Leadership

Founded in 1982, the World Federation of Consuls (FICAC) has over 9,000 honorary consuls in 95 countries and works to strengthen ties between nations. In Morocco, the Union of Honorary Consuls (UCHM) embodies this same vocation by promoting economic, cultural, and social exchanges between the Kingdom and the rest of the world.

The organization of this 14th Congress in Marrakech thus crowns the diplomacy of openness and dialogue advocated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, while positioning Morocco as an essential actor in modern and humane diplomacy, in the service of international cooperation and coexistence among peoples.
