UNSC Resolution: Southern Provinces Have Historically Been “Integral Part” of Morocco – U.S. Congressman
Washington - United States member of Congress Joe Wilson hailed the "historic" adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797 on the Moroccan Sahara, underlining that the Southern Provinces have historically been an “integral part” of the Kingdom of Morocco.
In a statement to MAP, congressman Wilson welcomed the “historic decision” by the UN Security Council supporting the Moroccan Autonomy plan as the “only” solution to the artificial conflict on the Moroccan Sahara.
The Southern Provinces have always been “an historical and integral part of the Kingdom of Morocco,” stressed Wilson, who chairs the Morocco caucus in the U.S. Congress.
The lawmaker also expressed support for the efforts of President Donald Trump’s administration to “build on this success” by supporting the path of dialogue.
In a speech delivered Friday evening, His Majesty King Mohammed VI called for a sincere, brotherly dialogue between Morocco and Algeria, in order to overcome differences and build new relations based on trust, fraternal bonds, and good neighbourliness.
