Talks in Kinshasa Between Rachid Talbi Alami and the Presidents of the Senate and National Assembly of the DRC
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, held talks on Wednesday at the Parliament headquarters in Kinshasa with the President of the Senate of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde Kyenge, and with the President of the National Assembly, Aimé Boji Sangara.

The meetings, attended by Morocco’s Ambassador to the DRC Rachid Agassim and several senior officials from both sides, were held on the sidelines of the 84th session of the Executive Committee of the African Parliamentary Union (APU) taking place on 18 and 19 November. This session precedes the 47th Conference of Speakers of National Parliaments scheduled for 21 and 22 November in the Congolese capital.
Speaking after these talks, Mr. Talbi Alami expressed his great pride and satisfaction in taking part in the work of the APU Conference and contributing to its success. He also took the opportunity to congratulate the newly elected President of the National Assembly of the DRC, Boji Sangara.
During the discussions, both sides highlighted the unique relationship between Morocco and the DRC, as well as the exemplary ties between the Heads of State and the peoples of the two nations. These relations are rooted in shared history, common values and strong human bonds.
This partnership is also based on cooperation, mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, and non-interference in domestic affairs. It also relies on the mutual and unconditional support of Morocco and the DRC in regional and international forums to serve global development, peace and regional as well as international stability, Mr. Talbi Alami added.
The talks also addressed the major national projects launched by the Kingdom under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, with a focus on Royal initiatives aimed at strengthening continental and international solidarity such as the Atlantic Initiative and the Africa-Atlantic Gas Pipeline Project. The discussions also highlighted the pioneering role of Morocco in peacefully settling disputes and its constant commitment to this principle at regional and international levels.
After reviewing the parliamentary experience in both countries, the two sides welcomed the excellent bilateral and multilateral parliamentary cooperation. They also stressed the central role of this partnership in strengthening relations between Rabat and Kinshasa in all areas.
Both parties underlined the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in deepening cooperation between the two countries. They agreed on strengthening the role of the two friendship groups and increasing visits and joint parliamentary missions in order to build lasting channels of communication, promote active cooperation and encourage the exchange of expertise and experience between the two legislative institutions, while enhancing continental and international coordination on issues of common interest.
Morocco is represented at this pan-African parliamentary event by a high-level delegation led by Mr. Talbi Alami and composed of members of the national section of the Moroccan Parliament to the APU. The delegation includes Members of Parliament Hatim Ben Rkia, Said Bekri, Nadia Bouzendoufa, Driss Chebchali, Madiha Khayer, Abdelilah Amhadi and Aouicha Zelfa.
The Moroccan delegation also includes two members of the House of Councillors, Said Chakir and Mohamed Horma El Makhloul.
