Aziz Akhannouch Holds Talks with the Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia Hamza Abdi Barre
Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch held talks on Thursday, November 27 in Rabat with the Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre. The meeting allowed both sides to review issues of common interest and examine ways to further strengthen the longstanding relations between Morocco and Somalia under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud.
During the talks, according to the Department of the Head of Government, Akhannouch recalled the Sovereign’s commitment to reinforcing fraternal ties and fruitful cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized Morocco’s continued support for every effort aimed at consolidating peace, stability and the sovereignty of the Somali Republic over its territory.
He also welcomed Somalia’s consistent support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, particularly through the vote cast by this friendly country on October 31, 2025, as a non-permanent member of the Security Council, in favor of the historic United Nations Resolution 2797, which recognized the Moroccan autonomy initiative as the basis for a solution to the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.
For his part, Hamza Abdi Barre conveyed the greetings of the government and people of the Federal Republic of Somalia to His Majesty King Mohammed VI. He stated that the discussions with the Head of Government were an opportunity to explore ways of strengthening bilateral relations and opening new prospects for economic and political cooperation between both nations.
The meeting also served to highlight the importance of developing a bilateral economic partnership and deepening cooperation and exchange of experience across various fields.
