Morocco Re-Elected to the International Maritime Organization Council
Morocco has secured a new mandate at the International Maritime Organization Council for the 2026 to 2027 term during the ongoing 34th session of the IMO Assembly in London.
The Kingdom ran for one of the 20 seats reserved under Category C and received the support of a large majority of IMO member states. This result marks Morocco’s seventeenth term on the council and reflects the joint efforts of Moroccan diplomacy in close cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and Logistics.
The Moroccan delegation attending this global meeting was led by Abdessamad Kayouh, Minister of Transport and Logistics, accompanied by Morocco’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, Hakim Hajoui.
The delegation also included senior representatives from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, the Ministry of Equipment and Water, the Secretariat of State in charge of Maritime Fisheries, the National Ports Agency and the Tanger Med Port Authority.
On the sidelines of the IMO Assembly, Minister Kayouh met with delegations from partner and friendly nations to discuss ways to expand cooperation in maritime affairs and transport. Several memorandums of understanding were signed during these meetings, including agreements with Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
