Rabat: Launch of the 2nd Edition of the “Video Game Creator” Training Program

The second edition of the “Video Game Creator” training program was launched on Monday in Rabat, as part of a partnership between the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, the Embassy of France in Morocco, and the “ISART Digital” school.

Designed to support young talent in the field of video game creation, the program is based on an accredited nine-month training course, including three months of professional training at the Higher Institute of Audiovisual and Cinema Professions (ISMAC) in Rabat, under the supervision of experts from “ISART Digital”.

In a speech read on his behalf, the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, stated that this second edition represents “the concrete affirmation of a foundation, the beginning of continuity, and the inscription of an experience over the long term”.

This program, he continued, opens “the chapter” of a new phase of development and structuring, embodying a firm commitment to the future of the Kingdom’s cultural and creative industries.

In this regard, the minister pointed out that the bet on Moroccan youth is based on confidence in their ability to showcase “our imaginations, our styles and our culture, and to project them, armed with new technologies, toward a new horizon”, considering that video games represent “the new frontier of the art of storytelling”, and are part of the continuity of the human cultural adventure initiated by cinema, theater and the visual arts.

Moroccan youth are “heirs to a long artistic tradition” and are naturally inclined to embrace this new medium in order to tell the world, from Morocco, with their own style, lived experience and imagination, their vision of the world, he specified, noting that the objective is to enable them to participate as producers in the major global cultural market.

Mr. Bensaid also affirmed that Morocco, in line with the enlightened Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, seeks to make culture and heritage a fundamental lever of development, through bold economic policies, the adoption of the latest technologies and their use in the service of creativity, thus offering a model of cooperation between the two shores of the Mediterranean.

For his part, the Ambassador of France to Morocco, Christophe Lecourtier, emphasized that this initiative is part of a shared ambition that places digital creation at the heart of bilateral cooperation, noting that the video game industry is a strategic sector that contributes to economic growth and offers high value-added jobs.

Mr. Lecourtier stated that supporting Moroccan talent reflects the desire to encourage digital creation capable of shining internationally, noting that the partnership with the French Institute and “ISART Digital” aims to provide young creators with the technical and artistic tools needed to excel in a competitive global market, while preserving the Kingdom’s unique cultural identity.

For his part, the Director of Development at “ISART Digital”, Azad Lusbaronian, indicated that this second edition is based on the principle of “learning by doing”, allowing students to be immersed in a real production environment.

He added that the program does not aim solely to provide technical skills, but also to support young people along an entrepreneurial path, enabling them to create their own studios and contribute to the structuring of the sector in Morocco.

The launch ceremony of the second edition of the “Video Game Creator” program was held in the presence of representatives of partner institutions and numerous experts in the field, as well as student beneficiaries from different regions of the Kingdom, representing the new generation of video game creators.

This training program, dedicated to video game development professions, forms part of the implementation of the Declaration of Intent signed between Morocco and France in October 2024, under the auspices of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron, in support of and to structure the ecosystem of the cultural and creative video game industry.
