Mehdi Bensaid visits several cultural structures in the province of Tétouan
The Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, visited on Friday a number of cultural facilities and youth platforms in the province of Tétouan.

The minister, accompanied by the Governor of the province of Tétouan, Abderzak El Manssouri, as well as several local officials and cultural and civil society actors, visited the Sidi Daoud Educational Center including the Youth Center, Women’s Club and Reception Center, along with the youth hostel located in the Medina and the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA), where the completion of redevelopment and modernization works was announced.
This visit forms part of monitoring efforts to prepare institutions ahead of the rollout of new national programs targeting youth.
In this context, Mr. Bensaid highlighted that the visit marked the launch of the program “Kan Yama CAN,” which will transform youth establishments into interactive spaces featuring broadcasts of Africa Cup of Nations matches, parallel sports activities, artistic and cultural workshops, as well as areas dedicated to dialogue, exchange and the promotion of positive citizenship values.
In a statement to MAP, the minister explained that this program was designed to accompany major sporting events hosted by Morocco, including the final phase of the Africa Cup of Nations, as well as future events the Kingdom will organize in the coming years.
He noted that the ministry is working to strengthen communication with young people through Youth Centers across all provinces and regions of the Kingdom. The minister added that this initiative began in Tétouan, where he engaged with a group of youth representatives and associations on the importance of such events, not only in the sports sector, but also socially and economically.
Discussions focused on how young people and small and medium-sized enterprises can benefit from these events and the opportunities they generate, as well as on strategies to raise awareness among young people so they can make full use of them.
Mr. Bensaid stated that the main objective of this exchange is to listen to the challenges facing young people, whether directly linked to youth-focused programs or connected to other sectors.
He affirmed that his department will implement several initiatives to respond to the expectations of young people, noting that a national tour will be organized across all regions in order to present ministry programs and remain attentive to associations and young participants engaged in Youth Centers.
The minister stressed that through this initiative, the ministry aims to strengthen these programs and reach as many young people as possible, describing the approach as an “ongoing project” dedicated to dialogue, listening and positive interaction with the expectations and ambitions of Moroccan youth.
Following the reopening of INBA after rehabilitation works, Mr. Bensaid stated: “We are proud of this institute, not only at the national level but also internationally, where its graduates, both Moroccan and foreign, play an important role in the global job market in the field of fine arts.”
The works carried out at the institute included the renewal of teaching spaces, improvements to training conditions and the modernization of technical infrastructure, offering students optimal creative environments and further strengthening Tétouan’s status as the capital of visual arts in Morocco.
The director of INBA, Mehdi Zouak, noted that the building was rehabilitated using a scientific approach and explained that the institution now offers a Master’s program in contemporary art and digital skills and that a doctoral program will also be introduced in the future.
He added that the institute offers three specializations in the field of visual arts: design, society and narrative visual arts.
