Morocco Puts Health and Education at the Heart of Its National Ambition: A Historic 15-Billion-Dollar Budget for 2026
In an unprecedented wave of reform, the Kingdom of Morocco has reached a new milestone in consolidating its social model. The 2026 budget allocates 140 billion dirhams (nearly 15 billion dollars) to health and education, marking a remarkable 16 percent increase compared to the previous year. This royal decision once again reflects the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, placing the citizen at the center of national priorities.

This budget increase aligns with the royal guidelines aimed at ensuring equitable access to quality public services and reducing regional disparities. By dedicating nearly 10 percent of its GDP to these two vital sectors, Morocco reaffirms its determination to strengthen its human capital, the true driver of sustainable and inclusive development.
Young Moroccans, whose aspirations for better education and accessible healthcare have recently resonated across the country, now see their hopes transformed into concrete action. The State is launching a new dynamic in which education, research, and public health become the pillars of collective prosperity.
The royal communiqué also unveiled promising economic forecasts: national growth is expected to reach 4.8 percent in 2026, driven by strong domestic demand and the performance of the non-agricultural sector. This resilience highlights the success of structural reforms implemented under the Sovereign’s leadership, which have enabled Morocco to strengthen its macroeconomic stability while protecting citizens’ purchasing power.
Furthermore, the 2026 Finance Bill provides additional funding to reduce regional inequalities, reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to promoting balanced development across all its provinces and regions.
In the same spirit, the Council of Ministers, chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, adopted two draft laws related to the upcoming general elections. These texts introduce innovative measures to encourage youth and women’s participation, enhance transparency, and combat corruption. The ban on candidates convicted of crimes or offenses, as well as the financial assistance covering up to 75 percent of campaign expenses for candidates under 35, reflect a modern and inclusive vision of national political life.
Between ambitious social reforms and steady democratic progress, Morocco continues to write an exemplary chapter in its contemporary history. Under the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Kingdom reaffirms its firm commitment to building a strong, just, and united State — a forward-looking Morocco where every citizen has a place in the nation’s progress.
