Diplomacy and Peace: Donald Trump Convenes the “Board of Peace” for Gaza and Pledges $10 Billion
U.S. President Donald Trump chaired in Washington the very first meeting of the “Board of Peace,” a diplomatic initiative dedicated to the future of the fragile ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. According to information reported by NBC News, representatives from at least forty countries were expected to attend this inaugural session, although several major U.S. allies did not take part.
On this occasion, the White House chief announced that the United States would contribute $10 billion to the Board of Peace, stating that this amount remained “small compared to the cost of the war.” He also asserted that other members of the body had already pledged approximately $7 billion in additional funding. Several states reportedly committed to deploying soldiers and police forces to help stabilize the Palestinian territory.
The meeting, held at the United States Institute of Peace in the federal capital, concluded after around three hours of discussions, marked by dozens of interventions from international delegates. It forms part of a U.S. effort to establish a multilateral mechanism to manage the post-conflict phase in Gaza, as the situation on the ground remains particularly fragile.
This initiative places Washington at the center of diplomatic efforts, while highlighting ongoing tensions in the region and uncertainties surrounding short-term geopolitical balances.
Meanwhile, U.S. officials indicated that the Department of Defense is currently reinforcing its military posture in the Middle East, with the deployment of warships, air defense systems, and submarines. These preparations are reportedly aimed at anticipating a potential strike against Iran should such a decision be made by Washington. Donald Trump stated that the outcome of the ongoing discussions with Tehran could be known “probably within the next ten days.”
