Trump: U.S. offensive against Iran to continue for “four to five weeks”
U.S. President Donald Trump said Sunday that the American military plans to continue its offensive against Iran for “four to five weeks” if necessary.
In an interview with The New York Times, the American president said it “would not be difficult” for the United States and Israel to maintain the intensity of the fighting.
“We have enormous quantities of ammunition. You know, we have ammunition stored all over the world, in different countries,” he said.
The head of the U.S. executive branch also warned that further losses among American soldiers were likely as military operations against Iranian installations and bases continue.
Three American servicemen have already been killed since the beginning of the operation on Saturday.
“Unfortunately there will probably be others before the end. That’s the way it is,” President Trump said earlier in a video posted Sunday on his platform Truth Social.
In the short address, Mr. Trump stated that “America will avenge its dead and deliver the most severe blow to the terrorists who have declared war against, fundamentally, civilization.”
“Military operations will continue at full power for the moment and they will continue until all our objectives are achieved. We have very strong objectives,” he added.
