Bayt Mal Al-Qods Agency Distributes 5,112 Shopping Vouchers as Part of Ramadan Social Aid Campaign
The Ramadan social aid campaign in Al-Qods, implemented by the Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency in the Holy City and its surroundings, has evolved into an integrated socio-economic support system. The initiative combines assistance to underprivileged families, stimulation of commercial activity, support for local merchants, and the creation of temporary jobs for young people, in a context marked by the difficult conditions facing the city.

The 1447 Hijri campaign is distinguished by a shift from standardized food baskets to shopping vouchers, allowing beneficiary families the freedom to choose food products that meet their needs. This approach preserves their dignity and enables them to shop normally at accredited stores without the risk of social stigma.
As part of the initiative, beneficiaries can visit participating shops to purchase essential food items such as rice, oil, flour, legumes, canned goods, milk and dates, before presenting their vouchers at checkout to complete their purchases easily, reflecting the spirit of solidarity and social cohesion.
Organizers of the “Grand Ramadan” initiative announced the distribution of 5,112 vouchers this year, each valued at 350 shekels, approximately 140 US dollars, benefiting thousands of families in Al-Qods and nearby areas.
Officials emphasized that this year’s initiative goes beyond the distribution of food aid by also contributing to the revitalization of commercial activity in the city’s markets. It forms part of the Agency’s 2026 action plan, which prioritizes the revival of economic and commercial activities as a lever for development and social stability.
In this context, the Agency has accredited 16 shops across more than 30 areas of the governorate to ensure the supply of food products to beneficiaries. This system allows families to shop close to their homes while supporting local merchants and encouraging them to continue their activities despite economic challenges.
The initiative also provides temporary employment opportunities for young people in areas such as organization, distribution and logistics during the month of Ramadan, further strengthening its economic and social impact within the local community.
The campaign reflects the Agency’s philosophy of translating solidarity into concrete social actions that directly address the needs of the population, while emphasizing that preserving the dignity of beneficiaries is itself a form of support for the resilience of the people of Al-Qods.
In this regard, Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, director in charge of managing the Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency, stated that the 1447 Hijri initiative is part of the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Qods Committee, aimed at continuing support for the Palestinian people under all circumstances.
He noted that the initiative not only provides food assistance but also strengthens the socio-economic stability of families in Al-Qods, stimulates commercial activity and creates temporary employment opportunities for young people.
In the same vein, Louay Al-Husseini, Director General of the Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Al-Qods, expressed his gratitude to King Mohammed VI for his continued support of the Committee’s work and initiatives aimed at strengthening the resilience of the city’s residents.
He praised the Agency’s efforts, highlighting its ongoing coordination with local institutions and its role in supporting national identity and reinforcing the resilience of the population. He added that the Agency’s programs help improve living conditions, boost commercial activity and create job opportunities, expressing hope that these efforts will complement those of other local institutions and contribute to a gradual shift from social aid to more sustainable development approaches.
It is worth recalling that the Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency serves as the executive arm of the Al-Qods Committee under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Operating under the Committee chaired by King Mohammed VI, the Agency implements programs and projects in social aid, healthcare, education, housing, and support for the local economy, alongside cultural and media initiatives aimed at strengthening resilience, promoting socio-economic development and preserving the Arab and Islamic identity of the Holy City.
