Lower House Speaker Meets Senegalese FM

Rabat - Speaker of Morocco’s House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, held talks, on Monday in Rabat, with Senegalese minister of African Integration, Foreign Affairs, and Senegalese Abroad, Cheikh Niang, who is on a friendship and working visit in the Kingdom.

The meeting underscored the distinguished ties between Morocco and Senegal, founded on an age-old history, common values and deep human ties, as well as cooperation, mutual respect of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, the non-interference in internal affairs and continued mutual support in various regional and international forums in the service of global development, peace and security.

The two parties discussed the major projects undertaken by the Kingdom under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, as well as Royal initiatives aimed at strengthening international and African solidarity, such as the Atlantic Initiative and the Africa-Atlantic Gas Pipeline project. They also discussed Morocco’s role in the peaceful settlement of conflicts, as recognized by the international community, notably through the latest Security Council resolution on the Sahara issue.

Talbi Alami and Niang also praised bilateral and multilateral parliamentary cooperation, emphasizing its pivotal role in strengthening relations between the two countries at all levels.

They highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy through the exchange of visits and missions, in order to build permanent bridges of communication, cooperation, exchange of expertise and experience between the two legislative institutions and coordination on issues of mutual interest.
