Ms. Marissa Scott Torres, U.S. Consul General in Morocco, on a Special and Private Visit to Casablanca’s Central Market

On Thursday, September 12, the Casablanca-Settat Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services (CCISCS) had the honor of welcoming Ms. Marissa Scott Torres, U.S. Consul General in Casablanca, for a special visit. This occasion marks a significant step in strengthening the commercial ties between Morocco and the United States.

The day began with a visit to the “Real Chaussures” factory in Aïn Sebaâ, a key player in Morocco’s footwear industry, where Ms. Torres explored the expertise and innovation of this Moroccan company. In the presence of Mr. Hassane Berkani, President of the CCISCS, this visit highlighted Moroccan craftsmanship and its potential for export to demanding markets like the United States.

Following this industrial tour, the delegation headed to the heart of Casablanca for a local immersion with a visit to the Central Market, accompanied by Mrs. Kenza Chraibi, President of the Sidi Belyout district.

This iconic location, rich in history and commercial exchanges, provided a moment of warmth and support for small traders, including fishermen, restaurateurs, and florists, who contribute to the city’s economic vitality.

As a gesture of support for these essential local business figures, a luncheon was hosted on-site, reflecting the CCISCS’s commitment to promoting Moroccan products and encouraging local commercial initiatives. This moment also served to strengthen the bonds of friendship between Morocco and the United States, two nations that share a common vision of inclusive trade and sustainable development.

This special visit by the U.S. Consul General echoes the actions undertaken by the CCISCS to promote industrial and commercial development in Morocco. Emphasis is placed, particularly, on supporting Moroccan industrialists and merchants in their efforts to export to the American market, a key strategic partner.

Through this initiative, the CCISCS reaffirms its central role in driving economic exchanges between the two countries. The strong support from Ms. Marissa Scott Torres underscores the United States’ continued interest in economic opportunities in Morocco, offering promising prospects for local businesses seeking to establish themselves in the American market.

This fruitful encounter paves the way for new collaborations, further strengthening the strategic partnership between Morocco and the United States, in a context defined by both nations’ desire to solidify their economic and cultural ties.
