Nasser Bourita Receives the President of the Andean Parliament, Gustavo Pacheco Villar

In a meeting marked by fraternity and diplomacy, Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, received Gustavo Pacheco Villar, President of the Andean Parliament, this Wednesday, April 2, in Rabat. The high-ranking Andean official was accompanied by a distinguished delegation.
Firm Support and Strengthened Cooperation
During the meeting, Gustavo Pacheco Villar unequivocally expressed his full support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, including over the Sahara region. This stance reflects the strong ties between Morocco and the Andean region, as well as the central role that the Kingdom plays on the international stage under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
For his part, Nasser Bourita welcomed the Andean Parliament’s consistent support for Morocco’s national cause and praised the quality of the relations between Moroccan and Andean legislative institutions. This dynamic partnership is built on shared values of dialogue, solidarity, and sustainable development.
Mr. Pacheco Villar also highlighted Morocco’s strategic position as a key actor in South-South cooperation, a fundamental pillar of the Kingdom’s diplomacy. Furthermore, he underscored the remarkable development dynamic Morocco is experiencing across various sectors, reinforcing its leadership on the African continent and beyond.
A Common Vision for Global Challenges
Beyond political and diplomatic matters, the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss major global issues that require close cooperation between Morocco and the Andean countries. These include:
-
Regional security and stability,
-
Migration issues,
-
Renewable energy and the energy transition,
-
Climate change,
-
Artificial intelligence and technological innovation.
The Andean Parliament delegation, which included Sara Kattya Condori, Manuel José Ossandon, and Oscar Darío Pérez, expressed admiration for Morocco’s economic growth and the major strategic projects undertaken, particularly in the fields of infrastructure and transportation.
A Strong Parliamentary Partnership
It is worth noting that the Moroccan Parliament is an observer member and advanced partner of the Andean Parliament, an institution established on October 25, 1979, representing the peoples of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Chile. The Andean Parliament’s main objectives are to harmonize legislation, strengthen cooperation among member state parliaments, and consolidate regional integration through a participatory democratic framework.
This meeting marks a new milestone in the strategic rapprochement between Morocco and Latin America, once again highlighting the Kingdom’s diplomatic influence and its ability to foster strong and lasting alliances across the globe.
