United Kingdom Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Strategic Partnership with Morocco
The British government reaffirmed on Thursday its commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with Morocco, emphasizing that it views the Kingdom as an “increasingly vital trade and investment partner for the United Kingdom.”

“The UK is committed to further deepening this partnership and considers Morocco an increasingly vital trade and investment partner for the United Kingdom,” said Michael Shanks, UK Minister for Energy Security and Net Zero.
Speaking before the House of Commons, the lower chamber of the British Parliament, Shanks stressed that the UK sees Morocco as “a key strategic partner,” especially in the fields of clean energy, decarbonization, and the fight against climate change.
In this context, he noted that the British government considers Morocco “an attractive and innovative investment destination,” adding that British companies, with government backing, are looking to increase their presence in the Kingdom.
Shanks recalled that earlier in June, the two countries agreed to bolster their strategic partnership during a visit to Morocco by the UK’s Foreign Secretary, David Lammy.
He added that the UK is “proud” to collaborate with Morocco through the “Breakthrough Agenda” program, in which the two countries co-lead the “Energy” pillar. He noted that London intends to continue supporting Morocco’s ambitious renewable energy goals, particularly through the COP Energy Transition Council.
Finally, Shanks said the UK looks forward to identifying and developing new avenues of cooperation with Morocco in these promising and rapidly evolving sectors.
