Condolence Message from His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the Family of the Late Ahmed Faras

In this message, the Sovereign states:

“We learned with deep emotion and great sorrow of the passing of the late Ahmed Faras, former international footballer. May God surround him with His mercy and welcome him into His holy abode.”

The message continues:

“In this painful circumstance, We extend to you, to all your loved ones, to the friends of the deceased, and to all those who held him dear—as well as, through you, to the wider national sports community, and in particular to the Chabab Mohammedia club—Our most sincere condolences and deepest feelings of compassion.”

“The deceased was one of the great figures of Moroccan football, topping the list of national team scorers. Gifted with exceptional talent, he played a brilliant role in elevating Moroccan football to continental and international acclaim during the 1960s and 1970s. He was also the first Moroccan player to receive the African Ballon d’Or in 1975 and played a pivotal role in Morocco’s historic Africa Cup of Nations victory in 1976.”

The Royal message further emphasizes:

“While sharing in your grief during this difficult trial, which none can escape, We pay heartfelt tribute to the noble human qualities of the deceased, as well as to his profound loyalty and sincere attachment to the national flag and jersey, making him a role model for future generations.”

“In these blessed days, We implore the Almighty to welcome him into His vast paradise, to reward his good deeds and the distinguished services rendered to his country, and to grant you patience and solace in overcoming this loss.”

“Give glad tidings to those who patiently endure—those who, when faced with calamity, say: ‘Indeed we belong to God, and indeed to Him we shall return.’ Upon them are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is they who are rightly guided.” Sadaka Allah Al-Adhim.
