Polisario Militias Officially Join Iran-Led “Axis of Resistance”
A new piece of evidence has been added to the already dark record of the Algerian military regime. According to geopolitical analyst Emanuele Ottolenghi, writing on TownHall.com on Friday, September 5, the Polisario — a terrorist militia created, funded, and instrumentalized by Algiers — has officially joined the Iran-led “Axis of Resistance.” Behind the Polisario’s “revolutionary” slogans lies a deadly alliance with the key sponsors of international terrorism: Algeria and Iran.
A dangerous and opportunistic alliance
How can a group claiming a Marxist heritage align itself with a retrograde Shia theocracy? The answer is simple: opportunism and duplicity. The Polisario, struggling and losing relevance, finds military and logistical support in Tehran, while Iran gains a new pawn to expand its influence and further destabilize the region. The result: a monstrous convergence, with no shared ideology but a common goal — spreading chaos and weakening sovereign states, primarily Morocco.
Evidence from Syria: Polisario on the international terrorism stage
Revealing reports show Polisario fighters, trained by Iran, captured in Syria after fighting alongside pro-Assad militias. This provides irrefutable proof that the movement is not a “liberation force” but a mercenary outfit serving the darkest agendas. The Algerian military regime, as protector and sponsor, bears direct responsibility for exporting terrorism to the Middle East.
Western left-wing complicity through naivety
Ottolenghi also highlights a worrying trend: some segments of the Western left, blinded by “intersectionality,” give the Polisario a platform. In a confusing mix, climate, Palestine, “decolonization,” and the Saharan separatist cause are lumped together. Romantic activists, from Greta Thunberg to some European MPs, inadvertently become agents of influence for Iran and its allies, applauding without realizing they are supporting bloodthirsty militias.
Algeria: a regional terrorism factory
The Algerian military’s role is undeniable. It does not merely fund and arm the Polisario on its soil — the Tindouf camps are a shameful showcase — but facilitates its integration into international terrorist networks. By hosting and protecting this militia, Algiers has turned its territory into an incubator of destabilization, from the Sahel to the Levant.
A warning to the free world
The alliance between Tehran and the Polisario, under Algiers’ blessing, is a clear alarm. Morocco is not the only target; the stability of the Mediterranean, West Africa, and beyond is at stake. Those in the West who continue to romanticize revolutionary causes need to wake up: supporting the Polisario is tantamount to supporting Iran, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and other proxies — effectively becoming unwitting enablers of global terrorism.
The Algerian military regime, trapped in paranoia and an anti-Moroccan obsession, has sold its soul to the most destructive forces on the planet. History will remember it not as a “revolutionary bulwark” but as a failed state complicit in terror.
