In China, Abdelkader Amara, President of UCESA, Calls for a Stronger Sino-African Partnership, Mutually Beneficial and Conducive to Prosperity
The President of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE) and current President of the Union of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions of Africa (UCESA), Mr. Abdelkader Amara, took part in the work of the China Economic and Social Forum, held in Xi’an under the chairmanship of the President of the China Economic and Social Council (CESC), Mr. Wang Dongfeng.
Speaking on this occasion in the historic setting of Xi’an, the starting point of the ancient Silk Road, Mr. Amara recalled that exchanges between China and Africa carry a heritage of prosperity, civilizational dialogue and peace, according to a CESE statement, stressing that this spirit should inspire virtuous cooperation to effectively address challenges.
He also highlighted the Kingdom of Morocco’s commitment, in line with the Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, to regional African integration and the strengthening of the Sino-African partnership.
Furthermore, he praised the unwavering commitment of the People’s Republic of China to a peaceful multipolar world and its constant action in defense of the fundamental interests of the countries of the Global South and their legitimate aspirations.
Mr. Amara recalled that cooperation between UCESA and the China Economic and Social Council reflects this dynamic. In this regard, he underscored the remarkable work carried out during the latest Summit on Sino-African Cooperation in Beijing, which adopted an ambitious action plan for 2025–2027, as well as the joint UCESA–CESC declaration, formalized in Shanghai in 2024.
Addressing the common challenges shared by Africa and China, such as peace and security, energy transition, responsible use of artificial intelligence, financing of development projects and improvement of social well-being, Mr. Amara emphasized the significant opportunities for cooperation that can generate new development dynamics, particularly for young people.
He thus called for virtuous cooperation based on “win-win” partnerships, ecological solidarity and mutual understanding, with the goal of building a genuine community of shared destiny in the service of shared prosperity.
Reaffirming UCESA’s determination to pursue this momentum through regular bilateral meetings, Mr. Amara announced the upcoming organization of the 5th UCESA–CESC round table in Africa, which will help to further consolidate and diversify this exemplary partnership.
