Gov’t Head Holds Meeting in New York with European Commission Pres.

United Nations (New York) - Morocco’s Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, held talks, on Wednesday in New York, with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

During this meeting, held on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly, the two sides underlined the solid ties between Morocco and the European Union (EU) in several fields.

Akhannouch and von der Leyen also examined the means of further strengthening the strategic partnership between the two sides.

Morocco is the EU’s first economic and trade partner in Africa, just like the EU is the Kingdom’s first trade partner, with a trade exchange that exceeds 60% of the total exchange volume.

The Head of Government is heading Morocco’s delegation to the current UN General Assembly, accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita.
