Morocco Royal Tour Show Jumping (Rabat Stage): Saudi Team Wins 2025 Nations Cup

The Saudi Arabian equestrian team claimed victory on Sunday in the 2025 Nations Cup, held as part of the second stage of the 14th Morocco Royal Tour of Show Jumping. The event took place from September 24 to 28 at the Royal Complex of Equestrian Sports and Tbourida in Dar Es-Salam, Rabat, under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI.

The Saudi team, composed of riders Khaled Almobty, Abdulrahman Alrajhi, Ramzy Al Duhami and Abdullah Alsharbatly, secured the title after finishing the competition with just 4 penalty points. They outperformed the Italian team of Roberto Previtali, Mauro Jr Matteucci, Massimo Grossato and Roberto Turchetto, who placed second with 12 penalty points. Great Britain, represented by Chloe Aston, Jane Annett and Joe Whitaker, came in third with 14 penalty points.

Speaking to the press, Saudi Arabia’s coach David Will said: “It is always a great pleasure to be in Morocco for the Nations Cup. We were under great pressure to win the title for the second year in a row.” He added, “Our team was motivated to repeat this achievement in Morocco, and the riders made great efforts that led to this fine victory.”

The Moroccan team, made up of Abdelkebir Ouaddar, Ali Al Ahrach, El Ghali Boukaa and Abdeslam Bennani Smires, finished 9th with 17 penalty points.

The Nations Cup, which was also won by Saudi Arabia in 2024 and is sponsored by the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, featured ten participating countries this year: Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Great Britain, Poland, France, Spain, Ireland and Morocco.

At the end of the competition, Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Mohamed Saad Berrada, presented the trophy to the winning team as well as awards to the other podium finishers.

The SOREC Prize (Royal Society for the Encouragement of the Horse), a CSIO4*-W event, was won after a jump-off by French rider Cyril Bouvard on Gangster d’Eifel with a time of 36.67 seconds. He was followed by Dutch rider Finn Boerekamp on Danny Boy 111 Z (37.90) and his compatriot Mans Thijssen on Looking For You (38.24).

The Morocco Royal Tour began with the first stage held from September 18 to 21 at the Hipica arena in Tetouan. After the Rabat stage, the circuit will conclude in El Jadida from October 2 to 5 with the Grand Prix of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, as part of the Horse Show.
