10 km International By WeCasablanca 2025: Spain’s Elías Fifa Wins Men’s Race, Ethiopia’s Likena Ambaw Ayele Claims Women’s Title

Spain’s Elías Fifa (men) and Ethiopia’s Likena Ambaw Ayele (women) took top honors on Sunday at the “10 km International By WeCasablanca,” a race that brought together more than 10,000 participants.

Elías Fifa won the event, organized by Casablanca Events & Animation in partnership with the Casablanca Municipality, completing the 10 km in 27 minutes and 51 seconds. He finished ahead of Kenya’s Senchura Silas (27:53), while Moroccan runner Zine Eddine Ouria claimed third place with a time of 28:02.

In the women’s race, Likena Ambaw Ayele triumphed in 29 minutes and 55 seconds. She was followed by Kenya’s Chacha Jen Gatty (31:32) and her compatriot Lydia Cheptarus Cheruiyot, who crossed the line in 31 minutes and 33 seconds.

Speaking to MAP, Elías Fifa expressed his joy at winning, noting that the event unfolded under excellent conditions, both in terms of organization and participation.

Likena Ambaw Ayele said she was proud of this victory, describing it as an important milestone in her athletic career, while praising the quality of the organization and the intensity of the competition.

For his part, Mohamed Jouahri, Director General of Casablanca Events & Animation, affirmed that the race was a success on every level, reflecting Casablanca’s status as a hub of urban sport. He added that this edition stood out for its remarkable performances, highlighting the fact that the women’s winner broke the 30-minute mark for the first time in Morocco. The event, he stressed, fully achieved its organizational and sporting objectives.

The closing ceremony featured the awarding of prizes and gifts to the winners, offering Casablanca residents the chance to witness a competition that brought together some of the best national and international athletes.

The opening of the race was attended by the Wali of the Casablanca-Settat region, Mohamed Mhidia, the governor of the Casablanca-Anfa prefecture, Aziz Dades, and the president of the Casablanca City Council, Nabila Rmili, along with several elected officials and sports figures.

Through the organization of this event, Casablanca reaffirmed its commitment to a strategy that makes sport a driver of urban dynamism and a source of collective pride for its residents, while enhancing the city’s influence at both the national and international levels.
