24 People Arrested in the Act of Disrupting Traffic on Casablanca Urban Highway – Deputy Public Prosecutor of the King
Casablanca - Twenty-four people were arrested in the act of disrupting traffic on the Casablanca urban highway, the first Deputy Public Prosecutor of the King at the Casablanca Court of Appeal, Abdellatif Saadi, announced on Tuesday.

In a statement to MAP, Saadi said that following unauthorized sit-in protests held in Casablanca on September 28, 2025, several people, some of whom were hooded, obstructed road traffic on the Casablanca urban highway, bringing traffic to a complete halt, causing harm to road users and hindering freedom of movement.
These individuals were arrested in flagrante delicto for committing the aforementioned acts, he said, adding that the adults were taken into custody, while the minors were placed in detention awaiting the investigation, in full compliance with legal provisions.
Despite law enforcement’s efforts to urge and warn these individuals to clear the road, they refused to comply and continued their actions, prompting the intervention of the relevant judicial police, who drew up official reports of findings, the first deputy public prosecutor at the Casablanca Court of Appeal explained.
These acts under investigation, namely obstruction and hindrance to traffic, do not pertain to peaceful forms of protest, but stand as criminalized acts that are punishable by law, he said.
Following the investigation, the suspects were brought before the public prosecutor’s office, assisted by their defense counsel, he continued, adding that the public prosecutor’s office had decided to submit a request to open an investigation concerning the 18 adults for their alleged involvement in crimes of obstructing and blocking traffic and, in some cases, drug use, while requesting that they be imprisoned.
The six minors were brought before the juvenile court judge, Saadi said.
The public prosecutor’s office, while being mindful of ensuring the exercise of freedoms within the framework of legal provisions, is also committed to taking firm action against any violation of the law and infringement of citizens’ freedoms and rights.
