Government Willing to Engage in Debate on Youth Demands to Achieve Expected Results- Minister

Rabat - The Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, Younes Sekkouri, emphasized on Thursday the importance of dialogue and interaction with the various demands and expressions of youth, expressing the government’s readiness to immediately engage in a debate on these demands in order to achieve the expected results.

“We are at a stage that requires the launch and structuring of a dialogue on all important issues, not only those related to health and education,” said Sekkouri during a press briefing following the Government Council, in response to questions about the forms of protest observed over the past two days in several cities of the Kingdom, stressing the importance of setting a list of demands to be discussed within a reasonable timeframe.

“We have developed several programs that we have not yet been able to implement,” he noted, reaffirming the government’s willingness to engage in dialogue and interact with youth demands in full transparency.

While regretting the turn of events, which on Wednesday led to the death of three individuals, the minister stressed that it is the government’s duty to listen to the demands expressed by young people on a number of priority issues and to translate them into concrete measures.

The overwhelming majority of young people who took to the streets to express their opinions in a civilized manner expressed their rejection of the excesses witnessed in several regions, he added.
