The International Federation of Travel Journalists and Writers to Hold Its World Congress from November 19 to 25 in Fez-Meknes
The Fez-Meknes region will host the 70th World Congress of the International Federation of Travel Journalists and Writers (FIJET) from November 19 to 25.

This will mark the third time the Kingdom has hosted the event, following the editions held in 2004 and 2018. The bid, submitted last January by the Moroccan Association of Travel Journalists and Writers (AMJET), a FIJET member, was unanimously approved. The proposal emphasized the region’s hotel infrastructure, the tourist appeal of Fez and its surroundings, and a rich, diverse provisional program designed for participants.
Organized in partnership with the Ministries of Tourism, Youth, Culture and Communication, the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT), and local authorities of the Fez-Meknes region, the congress will welcome more than 250 journalists from 70 countries. Participants will discuss the challenges of travel journalism in a changing world and exchange views on Morocco’s growing role on the global tourism scene. The opening ceremony will take place in Fez.
According to AMJET, the central theme “Tourism and Media: What Relationship, What Future?” will guide the discussions and panels of this major event, which will also address topics such as journalists’ ethical responsibility, diversity in newsrooms, and the role of media in promoting tourism.
In preparation for the congress, Mr. Tijani Haddad, President of FIJET-World, visited Morocco several times on behalf of the Executive Bureau and affirmed that AMJET “provides all the guarantees for the success of an event of this scale.”
“This edition, organized twenty-one years after the first and seven years after the second in Morocco, carries special significance,” said Mr. Haddad, quoted in an AMJET statement. He added that “this congress serves as a prelude to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup.”
“This global gathering will be magnificent, and Morocco is already demonstrating its ability to host major international events,” he emphasized.
According to AMJET, this statement reflects “international recognition at a time when the Kingdom is preparing to co-host, alongside Spain and Portugal, one of the world’s most prestigious football tournaments.”
Mr. Najib Zerouali, Honorary President of AMJET–FIJET Morocco, welcomed the choice of Morocco to host the congress, stressing the importance of travel journalism in tourism development.
“We will spare no effort to organize this large-scale event, which will also serve as an opportunity to strengthen our ties with global media and promote the values of openness and tolerance that define our Kingdom,” he stated.
He also emphasized the need to uphold the principles of plurality and objectivity in a profession increasingly shaped by technological transformations.
