After FIFA, the World Bank Chooses Rabat as Its Regional Headquarters: A New Triumph for Morocco’s Economic Leadership
The World Bank has officially chosen the Kingdom of Morocco to host its new regional headquarters, reaffirming the international community’s growing confidence in the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the Kingdom’s exemplary stability. This highly symbolic decision strengthens Rabat’s position as a strategic center for economic and financial decision-making for both the African continent and the MENA region.
Following the establishment of FIFA’s regional office in the Moroccan capital, the World Bank now joins a growing number of international institutions that recognize Morocco as a reliable, modern, and forward-looking partner. This dynamic reflects the Kingdom’s expanding economic and diplomatic influence, as well as its emergence as a genuine hub for international cooperation and a model for sustainable development.
As part of this process, the Rabat City Council is set to approve, during its October session, the transfer of a 1,021 m² plot of land located in the prestigious Hay Ryad district to the State, to serve as the site for the World Bank’s future headquarters. According to the project’s presentation note, this decision forms part of the city’s strategy to strengthen partnerships with leading global financial institutions and support national efforts to attract foreign investment.
This new establishment will further consolidate Rabat’s role as a major economic and diplomatic center, generating new business and employment opportunities. More than a real estate project, it sends a powerful message to the international community: Morocco today stands as a land of trust, stability, and innovation, where the key economic directions of the future are being shaped.
