Rabat: Presentation of the “Smart Drive Test” Intelligent Car Model for Driving License Exams

The intelligent car model “Smart Drive Test,” designed for driving license exams, was presented on Tuesday in Rabat.

The presentation, attended by the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, and the Director of the National Road Safety Agency (NARSA), Benacer Boulaajoul, is part of the reform of the driving license examination system, which aims to strengthen the credibility of the exams by ensuring that candidates master both driving techniques and traffic regulations.

In this regard, Mr. Kayouh stated that the project is the result of a partnership between NARSA and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in the field of innovation and the development of an intelligent system for driving license exams.

He added that this innovation, developed by Moroccan engineers, is of great importance for young people who will soon be able to take their driving tests in a virtual and practical environment.

The Minister explained that the project is currently in its testing phase and will be further developed before being finalized for full implementation. He noted that future candidates will perform maneuvers and route recognition tests in various cities, allowing them to experience real driving conditions in different environments.

“This includes driving in urban and rural areas, on highways and expressways, as well as in zones with heavy traffic,” he said.

For his part, Rafiq El Alami, Director of the Center of Excellence in Digital Innovation (DICE) at UM6P, emphasized that the objective of adopting the “Smart Drive Test” intelligent car is to evaluate the driver’s behavior based on the environment in which the vehicle operates. He pointed out that the system can detect traffic signs and red lights, enabling accurate assessment of the candidate’s performance during the driving test.

On this occasion, a new anti-cheating system was also presented. It is designed to detect fraudulent behavior during the theoretical part of the driving license exam. Mr. El Alami noted that this uniquely Moroccan innovation, deployed last year in national exams and competitions, has shown positive results in its ability to identify cheating cases.
