The Polisario, a “creation” of the Algerian military regime, on the verge of being designated a terrorist organization

The international stage has reached a turning point. Following the adoption by the UN Security Council of a resolution reaffirming the Moroccan Autonomy Plan as the only serious, credible, and realistic basis for a final settlement of the Sahara issue, many voices have begun to rise in Washington calling for firm action against the Polisario Front — a separatist armed group created, funded, and directed by the Algerian military regime.

Among these voices is that of the influential American and international Jewish community, which welcomed the Security Council’s new stance and has openly called on both the U.S. administration and Congress to officially recognize the Polisario as a terrorist organization.

The Polisario is not a political movement, but a military arm of Iran and Algeria

This group represents no population, speaks for no people, and holds no democratic legitimacy. It is the armed wing of Algeria’s military regime, used as a tool of blackmail and regional tension. This is no longer just a geopolitical assessment — it is a security matter.

Washington knows it… Congress confirms it

The Polisario’s ties with Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, and arms trafficking networks across the Sahel are no longer in doubt. These links place it within the same ideological framework as Hamas: a military apparatus relying on violence, propaganda, indoctrination, and regional destabilization.

The Algerian military regime — the main orchestrator

This is no longer a matter of mere logistical or diplomatic support. Algeria arms, trains, funds, and directs the Polisario. Why? Because a stable, prosperous, and fully Moroccan Sahara would put an end to the myth of Algeria as a “regional power.” Because Morocco today embodies a model of stability and development that Algeria’s military rulers can neither match nor tolerate.

This regime, isolated and challenged by its own people, lacking internal legitimacy, must maintain the crisis to justify its existence. The so-called “Sahrawi cause” is not its struggle — it is its pretext.

Morocco chooses international legality, Algeria chooses terrorism

History is moving forward. Morocco has presented a political solution, and the United Nations has recognized it as the only credible basis for peace. Now, Washington is preparing to call things by their name: the Polisario is not a liberation movement. It is an armed group under foreign command. And that armed group may soon be officially recognized as a terrorist organization.
