Rabat: Ahmed Talal Highlights the Role of Sports in the Maghreb Region During an Event Organized by the Moroccan Forum of Young Journalists

The Moroccan Forum of Young Journalists organized, on Wednesday, November 5, a conference dedicated to the role of Maghreb media in covering major sporting events. This meeting, part of a series of thematic discussions, was skillfully moderated by Professor and journalist Ahmed Talal, Director of the Higher Institute of Journalism and Communication (ISJC) in Casablanca.

Alongside Mr. Talal, the panel included Dr. Moncef El Yazghi, researcher in sports policy, Younes Khandrachi, sports journalist, and Wajih Wafi, Tunisian journalist. Discussions focused on the evolution of media coverage of major international sports competitions organized in the region, as well as the challenges linked to the Maghreb’s geopolitical context.

During the session, Ahmed Talal shed clear and insightful light on how inter-Maghreb political tensions affect both performance and cohesion within the regional media landscape. He emphasized the need to move beyond sterile rivalries and work toward building a cooperative, professional, and forward-looking media space.

Through the relevance of his analyses, the clarity of his interventions, and his ability to foster dynamic exchange among participants, Mr. Talal played a decisive role in the success of the event, reaffirming his position as a national reference in the fields of media and academia.

Heir to the legacy of the late Dr. Mohamed Talal, one of the founding figures of modern journalism education in Morocco, Ahmed Talal continues with excellence a career path that unites professionalism, ethics, and expertise in the service of Moroccan journalism.
